Transport: Road, Rail and Air |
|
Monitoring side-winds on exposed bridges is a common road transport related application, as is monitoring temperature and humidity conditions to forecast the likelihood of icing conditions in order to determine whether roads need to be gritted.
Rail applications include detecting icing conditions to control point-heaters and restricting line speeds in the event that high winds should increase the chance of overhead traction/power wires being damaged or brought-down.
An obvious application is at airports and airfields, and versions of our instruments make up the UK Met Office "MK6" wind speed and direction sensors used at a number of sites.
